What is Pin Inspector and Why Do You Need it?

If you have not heard of Pin Inspector, here is a little introduction.

Pin Inspector is software that you install on your computer or Mac, not a subscription service. It works by extracting data from Pinterest’s backend and displaying it in a user-friendly way.

Using Pin Inspector will allow you to uncover hidden data that’s impossible to see on Pinterest, find out what your competitors are doing, how well their content performs, and do keyword research in a matter of minutes, instead of hours.

Best of all?

You don’t have to pay any subscription fees – it’s only one small payment, and in my opinion its worth every penny.

Pinterest Marketing Hack 1: Long Tail Keywords

As I explained in this article, one of the best ways to grow your traffic on Pinterest fast is to focus on many long-tail keywords found on the platform.

You can either manually search for them one by one using Pinterest’s search bar or do the same job in Pin Inspector in seconds.

Here is how:

  • type in keyword in pin inspector
  • filter the results by number of words

Pinterest Marketing Hack 2: Competition Research

Finding what works for your competitors on Pinterest is very hard, because you don’t see any analytics or metrics on their account.

You can only check comments on individual pins, but you won’t find out how many times the pin has been repinned, when it was created, what’s the color used, how it was shared, among other things.

In Pin Inspector, you can simply type in your competitor’s account name and analyze all their pins with a single click.

The results can then be sorted by the number of likes, saves, or comments, so you can quickly spot which content generates the most engagement.

How would you use this data?

Simply use it as an inspiration for your own content plan and optimize your own account. The best-performing pins are great inspiration for color schemes and design styles you can use to tweak your own content.

Pinterest Marketing Hack 3: Search Volume Estimates

As you know, there are no search volumes on Pinterest to go by.

Pinterest indicates search volumes if you look at the keywords in the paid ads section, but they are not very accurate and extremely broad.

Plus, you won’t find all keywords there, just a limited selection with very broad intent.

So how are you supposed to know which keywords have the most searches, and the highest traffic potential?

One way to know for sure is by looking at the Pinterest search bar.

Let’s assume you have a travel blog about UK destinations.

If you type in a simple term like London Travel, whichever keyword that comes first one in the list of suggestions (let’s call it ‘rank 1’) will be the most popular one, and have most searches.

The further down the list you go, and the lower rank the keywords have, the less searches those keywords receive.

Why?

Because Pinterest wants to make it easy for you to discover content, so they will put the most popular related searches at the top of the search suggestions.

Now, let’s presume we want to make our life easier, and find the high volume keywords faster, right?

If you type in your main keyword to Pin Inspector, it will generate a list of all related keywords to your main topic. You can then use the ‘rank’ filter to display only keywords ranking in positions 1 and 2.

That means, it will show you all the keywords that would come up in the search bar suggestions in position one and two in the list.

How cool is that?
